Chick Pea Sorghum Burgers Todays Moxie

These burgers may look complicated but they go togehter in a snap. Add apple slices on the side. Beans are a great way to add protein and fiber to your diet. Say good-bye to the traditional burger and fries.

Ingredients

  • Chick Pea Sorghum Burger Ingredients Todays Moxie1/4 cup cooked sorghum
  • 1/4 cup canned chick peas
  • 1 cup spinach
  • 1/2 lime or lemon
  • 1 slice of red pepper
  • 1 slice onion
  • olive oil
  • onion powder
  • dried basil
  • salt/pepper
  • banana peppers
  • 1 slice artisinal bread

Directions

  1. Make your burger patties in the food processor. Add chick peas and cooked sorghum, season with salt and pepper, dried basil, onion powder or try your own seaoning mix, and a tsp of olive oil. This mixture will form into a beautiful patty with your hands.
  2. Heat your pan and add a tsp of oil. Once it is hot, add your pepper and onion and chick-pea burger.
  3. Start toasting your slice of bread.
  4. While you keep an eye on your pan, return to your food processor. Give it a quick rinse then add the spinach, a squeeve of lime and s/p. Process until it is finely chopped.
  5. Flip burger and veggies while working on your quick spinach pesto.
  6. Now assemble your sandwich. Don't forget the banana peppers. They add a nice tangy punch.

Eat with sliced apples and a cold Pelligrino.
